FIREPLACE MEDIA WALLS
We are seeing a large rise, especially on social media, for this type of media wall. Whilst we aren’t against it we believe that more thought needs to be given during the design process so as not to take the focus from the main feature, your television. We are seeing finished walls with fires that are mounted too high and wider than the TV this results in the fireplace being too distracting whilst watching your favourite movie or series. It also means that the TV has to be mounted higher which is not good for viewing angles or comfort.
RECESSED TV MEDIA WALL
A recessed TV is attractive however it does have its drawbacks, most manufacturers specify a minimum clearance around the television so that heat can escape and not damage the screen and electronics. Another pitfall comes when you choose to upgrade your television, even models with the same screen size can have variations in the housing meaning that your new TV may not fit into the recess created. If you choose to replace your wall mounted television with a larger one then the media wall will have to be rebuilt. We can work with you to design a media wall that looks stunning whilst considering manufacturer specifications and future upgrade possibilities.
RECESSED SOUNDBAR MEDIA WALL
A new media wall trend that we have seen on many social media platforms is to box in or recess a soundbar. This is something that we most definitely do not recommend especially if you have a Dolby Atmos soundbar as the upfiring speakers are made to bounce sound from a ceiling not from a recess just above the unit. There are soundbar mounts available that enable you to pull the soundbar out whilst in use but we find that clients don’t want to have to do this every time they choose to watch the television.
